SIDEN
HISTORY
Doctor John Siden had been doing questionable research for
some time in the sphere of metaphysics.More specifically a cure for
death.
John Siden and Lisa Shine marry and together they follow John
Siden's dream to build a great city. The Siden Company is founded ,Siden is
constructed and is the very epitome of a modern city.
John continues his
research but when his wife falls terribly ill he doubles and redoubles his work
to try and save her. The citizens of Siden are called to volunteer to work for
him and to be experimented on themselves. Many come forward as Lisa Siden is
well loved and John Siden is greatly respected.
History has shown that
this huge endeavour in Siden took an unforeseen and terrible course. Siden the
man and Siden the City suffer greatly with the madness of the
experiments.
Lisa sickness worsens and Siden experiments for a cure.
Terrible,terible things occur in the Siden Hospital. Patients are taken to the
very boundaries of life but never quite attain death.
Work proceeds with
further experimentation on then the extraction of a minute part of the brain
that inhibits movement during sleep. Siden reasons that if he can place the body
is a state of torpor but maintiain normal daily function then he will have saved
something of his dear Lisa. In subjecting his workers to this process he
produces a host of zombie like creatures who live in a dream state, alive but
only just and acting out their lives while in a deep sleep. In this dream state
the mind does not see clearly right and wrong.......the dreamer never awakes and
the nightmare continues. This sick army is trapped here in this once glorious
city and is sustained by....well the occasional visitor.
John Siden goes
steadily insane, tirelessly pushing his research forward and subjecting his now
dying wife to his mad research. Funds are low and the awful work rushes ahead
with ever increasing urgency heralded by the blood chilling screams from within
the Hospital. The City of Siden follows and races towards destruction and
terror,
Lisa Siden is not saved yet lives!. She becomes a monster. The
Lady of Siden.
John Siden hides away now quite insane his own dreams gone
sour and the ever growing army of 'Siden dreamers', acting out their twisted
nightmares over and over.
The City of Siden thus suffers a devastating
trauma. Lives are shattered and the very fabric of society with it. Monsters
alive but not living, roam the old hospital and sewers beneath. The once fine
City becomes the derilict dreadfull place that we see today. The formerly proud
and prosperous community now in ruin and possessed, disintegrates to become the
stage for a desperate struggle for survival.
Concurrently mines were
constructed on one side of the city. The reason is unclear but it is certainly
the work of the Siden Company and rumoured to be an attempt to bury and burn the
most ghastly patients. What terror could have been so great as to urge them to
excavate so deeply and fire the bowels of the earth thus? The mines still burn
today perhaps with an unknowable power or one known only to John Siden
himself.
The disaster has affected the then children horrifically also.
The Siden Hill School, was once one of the finest and produced graduates both of
learning and ability. But the poor children abandonned by insane parents and
teachers seeking a place of saftey away from the 'Dreamers', lost their minds
too in the horrors and remained in school. Now quite mad they play out their
role at school though adults,some as teachers somes as students.
Today
Siden Survivors find themselves in a different world perhaps a parallel universe
or another dimension where these ghastly unexplained phenomena occur. Maybe
gateways to other dimensions have been spawned by John Siden and his research.
Post apocalypse Doctors,Medics and Nurses search for patients to 'treat' some
for ill some for good. Vampires and animals creatures abound also; loyal unto
themselves and cohorts but often ready to rip out one's throat. Gangs and
alliances have formed for survival and drugs are openly sold while a beseiged
Security Corps look on: some fighting for justice while others remain on the
payroll of flourishing organised crime. Even the Siden Clergy have a shadow over
them-what part did they play? It has been said Preachers were key to John
Siden's methodology. Meanwhile most Siden Survivors whether sane or insane
openly carry weapons and some have the armoury and equipment of military
personnel. It is inadvisable to venture out alone or empty handed.
Sadly
matters have continued their ghoulish twist. Lisa Siden was pregnant with a
daughter. Elizabeth born in some unknowable dimension and older from the passing
of years torments us also. A few have seen her and lived. Is the terrible
daughter a greater threat than the mother?
And of course there is
Lisa Siden,The Lady of Siden,forever present and forever
haunting.
